- Ambient Weather introduces the first low cost weather center with humidity calibration. The WS-1171 replaces the WS-1170. The WS-1171 allows you to adjust the sensor humidity to match the calibrated humidity. Order the Ambient Weather 33% (ASIN B0051FGSTG) or 75% (ASIN B0051FI5N8) calibration kits (optional).
- The indoor console displays temperature and humidity levels indoors and outside, and shows daily weather forecasts that help you dress for the weather. The main display receives temperature and humidity data from the included wireless remote sensor.
- The wireless sensor installs just about anywhere (up to 330 feet away) to report on conditions in the greenhouse, garage, wine cellar or baby's room, places where proper temperature and humidity levels are crucial. The weather station's main console displays a wide range of information in an easy-to-read format on a large LCD. The attractively thin console can be placed on a desktop or mounted to a wall.
- The unit monitors indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, outdoor dew point, as well as barometric pressure (both sea-level and measured), and features a pressure history chart to track trends. The handy forecast icons let you know at a glance if it's going to be rainy, cloudy, or sunny based on barometric pressure trends.
- Equipped with an atomic clock, time is set automatically via radio and in synch with the U.S. atomic clock for utmost accuracy. The clock also features an alarm with snooze and temporary back light for nighttime viewing.

I found that temperature, humidity, and barometer all had accurate readings. It uses a frequency of 433MHz that doesn't interfere my other wireless stuff. It was an engineering nightmare whose set-up was so complicated and counter-intuitive that it was impossible without the instructions. And it needed to be set-up anew everytime you changed the batteries. Heaven help you if you lost the instructions! The Oregon weather station required specialized tools. I have a lot of optical equipment with screwdrivers of all kinds and sizes, but none worked. I sent the Oregon station back. The set-up of the Ambient is simple and intuitive, with almost everything being done for you. All you need is a standard philips screwdriver. Basically, insert the batteries and it does the rest. I agree with the preceding Reviewers about most things, but not all. I am generally very happy with the WS-1170 Unit, but I did not find it so intuitive to set up, and had a couple of problems following the fairly complete, but tiny-print user Guide. One was that I had to guess at the number to enter to set my Time Zone for the Clock (I think I guessed -9 for the Pacific Time Zone -- and I lucked out). The other one related to setting the date - it was clear (in retrospect), but just not intuitive to me at the time. I did not fuss with any of the many Alarms settings.The unit clearly displays everything you want to know about your Inside & Outdoor Weather, tendencies & time. I find that if I prop it up completely vertically (the built-in Stand is set to hold it at an angle), the display info looks darker and is much easier to read (to me anyway).
